Fitting

Every golfer is a bit different in size, body shape and swing style. A custom fitting results in clubs that are specifically suited to an individual’s height, strength, club head speed and swing characteristics.

Off-the-shelf golf clubs are designed for the “typical” golfer. In most cases, typical means someone 5-foot-9 or 5-10 who hits a 5- or 6-iron 160 yards. Most golfers will fit within this standard range, but some will find that they could benefit from shortening or lengthening the shaft, adjusting the lie angle of the club head, or adjusting the size of the grip to accommodate larger or arthritic hands.

If someone is in need of custom fitted clubs and doesn’t get fitted properly, they will inevitably make adjustments to their swing to compensate. These adjustments that are made to compensate for an ill-fitting set can make achieving a great swing that much more difficult.

Here at The Golf Ranch, we custom fit everyone who purchases their clubs from us for free. If custom specifications are needed for new clubs, we will special order your clubs from the manufacturer at no extra charge. If it is a used set you are purchasing, we can custom fit those for you as well; making all adjustments in house.

When custom fitting, the goal is to find the best combination of shaft (length, flex and kick-point), lie (strong or flat), and grip size (standard, mid-size, or oversize).

At The Golf Ranch, our experienced fitters use measurements (wrist to floor), lie tape rubs, face impacts and our golf simulator (swing speed, launch angle and face impact angle) to acquire the information needed to accurately arrive at our clients proper fit.

Fittings can be done for every club in the bag, including putters, but iron fittings are most common, with driver fittings following closely behind. If you are in need of a new club, or even if you would like your current clubs fitted, come see us. You’ll be amazed at the difference it will make in your game.
